Many times when women lose weight, they receive comments that can be construed as insulting, chauvinistic, sexual, hurtful and other negative reactions that can be felt within our bodies. It can result in feelings of shame, judgment, embarrassment, anger and a whole list of not so healthy emotions. So why would we want to be thin?
We have all experienced events in our lives that did not embed happy or pleasant memories in our brains. Some of us experienced more of those events than others. There are times when we just don’t want anyone to pay attention to us or notice us or speak to us so we keep that weight on thinking it will protect us from being hurt. What we don’t understand is that the weight is not going to protect us. What we believe about ourselves is going to protect us and help us live a healthier, happier life.
