Is it possible to not crave carbs for weeks or months and then one day you just can’t consume enough carbs? You want bread, pasta, potatoes……anything that even sounds like it would be in the carb family.
What do you think brought this on? Well, Julie was ready to get to the bottom of it.
Julie is a fairly new client of mine and during a recent tapping session we tapped the entire hour on her sudden craving for carbs….carbs of any type, size or color. It didn’t matter. But the strongest desire was for bread. She didn’t seem to get satisfied no matter what type of bread or how much bread she ate. This went on for 2 days.
She began telling me how she was experimenting with intermittent fasting for the last week. This is where you eat all of your food for a day within an 8 hour span. You fast for 16 hours to give your body the opportunity to burn that dreaded unwanted fat. That was her reasoning and to tell you the truth, I don’t know much about intermittent fasting.
Julie was on her 7th day of this fasting trial. She commented that she was fine most of the days, but had to eat around hour 14 on 2 of the days. This was day 7 when this uncontrollable urge for carbohydrates hit her. She had said that she hadn’t been feeling well in the mornings those last 2 days, but pushed through the 16 hours of fasting. On the 7th day she just was out of control. She was ravenous and lost total control of her eating.
As you can imagine, she was overwhelmed with guilt, shame, anger, disappointment and many other emotions that we tapped on and brought them all down to zero on the scale. At one point while tapping she had a strong feeling of deprivation as a child. We had addressed that through the EFT process and surprisingly enough, it was not being deprived of food. What came to her mind was feeling deprived of love from her mother as a young child. Her mother had been very ill for about a year when Julie was the age of 4. Between visits to doctors and stays at the hospital off and on, her mom was not able to be the loving mom that Julie wanted and needed. That was when the light bulb went off for Julie that at the age of 4 is when she started to turn to food as a source of love and comfort.
We have continued working on this “aha” moment that showed up because of her extreme cravings for carbs. That one to 2 days of extreme cravings and the power of EFT is making quite the change in her life. It is beginning to make sense why she has struggled with food, her weight, relationships and many other branches of her life since she was a child. Julie believes that the uncontrollable craving of carbs was the beginning of her healing process.
If you have unexplained out of control cravings, maybe EFT can help you have an “aha” moment that will bring you one step closer to controlling the craving.
