How many of times do you make a plan to exercise and feel confident that it’s going to happen?
How many excuses can you think up in order to put it off for another day or another week?
Yep, I’m with you on that. I have been exercising for over 25 years now on a consistent basis. I’m one of those people that feels really bad when I take off more than 2 days in a row. I not only feel bad because I know how important it is to exercise for my overall health, but I feel physically bad too! Exercise tends to give me more energy throughout my day and improves my sleep quality. Also, I physically feel stronger and less jiggly as I move throughout my day.
MY CONFESSION
Even though I have been on this exercise routine for more than 25 years and it’s a part of my lifestyle, I still have those times when I just can create so many excuses not to go to the gym or not get out and walk. I put up resistance just like you and everyone else in the world. I have gone as far as getting to the road where I turn into the parking lot of the gym and I make a U turn and head back toward home or to run errands. Have you ever done that?
I have found that if I stick to my routine of going first thing in the morning as soon as I wake up and “get it over with” before excuses can pop up, I feel much better and have much less resistance in my body to doing something that is good for me.
My exercise routine is one thing that keeps me focused on eating healthier. Being a member at a fitness center for so many years has created a social group and support group throughout the years. The people that I have met throughout the years that show up at the same time every morning is what motivates me many mornings to get there when I don’t feel like going. It creates that feeling of commitment and accountability.
It’s great that I have the tool of EFT to help me work through those moments of resistance. Watch the videos and try tapping on yourself when you begin to notice excuses popping up or that resistance to following the plan.
